My Week #30

This week, I went with a green theme and I really loved the cat and leaf stickies.

My week was really boring. I spent most of it doing UKCAT practice but at least there's the Common Wealth games to look forward to. I think. I also finally received the other set of sticky notes I ordered from Ebay and my hole reinforcements for my Filofax pages which I ordered from Annie's Paper Boutique. If you guys are interested, you should check out her website.  She sells some really cool Filofax/planning stuff.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you guys had a more interesting week.

Personalising your Filofax cover

Dear fellow planner enthusiasts,

Do you ever think about making your Filofax look a little different to that of others with the same type? Would you want your Malden/Saffiano/Metropol to look different from Mrs X's at the office or your friend's at college? Ever thought about personalising your Filofax cover?
Well I have had a look around the internet and I have found a fair number of people who have decided to add a personal touch to their covers.

How did they do that I hear you ask?

This is a pocket size Domino in chocolate that has been made prettier by using good quality rub-ons from Basic Grey.

For those with plain fabric covers, you could use a stencilling technique as demonstrated by Sense of gravity.

This is a Metropol in bright pink that has been personalised using a large rose motif stamp and black embossing powder. I love the detail.

How about using stickers if you don't want something permanent?

And what about using washi tape? Think about all the pretty designs and combinations you could use.

This is a video I found on YouTube. She made her sister draw birds in gold on her maroon Filofax cover and I thought it was a genius idea coz it made it look so pretty and unique.  As you can see from the photo, the name of the YouTuber is TheCarieRandoms.

So what did I do to my Filofax cover???

I started off by putting a flower sticker on the clasp. Feels like a button now and I love it.

Then I played around with a couple of stickers and so it ended up looking like this. What I like about using stickers is I can take them off at any time and use different ones.
And there's the back.
You don't necessarily have to change it totally and completely to make it unrecognisable but I think adding that personal touch brings out more of your personality and makes it your own.

So what do you all think about a personalised Filofax cover? Yay or Nay?

My Week #29

This week, I went for a blue ish theme. It wasn't until I put the sticky notes in that I realised the washi wasn't really blue. I still loved how it turned out though and I'm particularly in love with the clock and elephant stickies :)

The first part of my week was quite busy as I had two Health Care Assistant interviews at the same hospital on two consecutive days. Best thing that happened was the fact that I was offered the jobs :)

I started going through UKCAT questions on Medify during the second half of the week.

One very important thing I learnt that helped me this week is that when it comes to your life, you can't keep putting things off till later. The time is now so you have to take control of your life, go grab your blessings and make your dreams come true.

Thanks for reading and hope you guys had a good week.

Colour coding in your Filofax

Hey everyone,

As a Filofax newbie I've had to learn the ways of a Filofax from experienced Filofaxers and one thing I've noticed is that most of them tend to have a colour coding system of some sort which is very useful especially in the calendar/diary section. I am a very visual person and I thought I might give this a try as I love adding colour to my pages. I had a look around the internet and these are some of the different colour coding systems I found. Image sources can be found below the photos.

Ah don't you just love that handwriting? I want to learn how to write like that.

I personally love the simplicity of this one.

This one is a little different. It's a sticker coding system.

This is my very first colour coding system. I was going for something simple-not very complicated and this one has worked for me so far.
Do any of you lovely Filofaxers use colour/sticker coding systems which help in your diary/calendar sections? Has it worked for you?
Thanks for reading.

Yay!!! I got a HCA job!!!

Hello peeps :D

So I have got exciting news!!! I had two  interviews this week for HCA jobs at different wards at the same hospital. One of them was for the Cardiology ward and the other was for the Acute Medical and Surgical Unit. The first interview I had was on Tuesday (Acute Medical and Surgical Unit). I had to do a literacy and numeracy test which lasted for about an hour. It wasn't hard so that went well. Then I went on to the ward for the actual interview. I was interviewed by a Senior Sister and a Medical Assistant. The interview lasted about 15 minutes and they said they were going to get back to me the next day (yesterday) because they were going to be interviewing till 5p.m.

The second interview was yesterday (Cardiology ward). I thought it was going to be a bit awkward as I had to report to the same reception and show my ID documents all over again and probably do the test again but fortunately, I didn't need to do them all over again so I was sent straight to the ward for the interview. The senior nurse was actually surprised to see me because I was one and a half hour early. :D So I had to wait in the ward for a bit and then they took me to another office for the interview. The questions at this interview were mostly scenario questions and I had to think about them for a while before answering. It almost felt like a medicine interview. The Sister told me they were going to call me at about 3pm after they have interviewed the last person so I went home a little anxious.

I waited for hours impatiently just for that call and it just wasn't coming. I was almost in tears as I hadn't heard back from neither of the two interviews and I wasn't really keen on going to the interview at the other hospital as it is further away from where I live. Then just when I had almost given up, at 5:45pm, I got that call and it was a private number. The sound of her voice at first wasn't really promising and I thought "Aww man I didn't get the job." Then she said "Congratulations, you succeeded at your interview and we have decided to give you the job." Aaaah. I was over the moon. I am going to be a Health Care Assistant. Woohoo!!! It's going to take a while before I start though because of all the checks and all but at least I got the job offer. Yaaay!!!

P.S: The job I got is for the Cardiology ward and I heard back from the other one today. The offered me the job as well but I had to respectfully decline ;)

My Week #28

This week, I decided to go with a pink and yellow theme and I absolutely love the cat sticky notes :)
32 days to go till my UKCAT exam and so my week again mostly consisted of me doing practice tests. I have finished doing the practice tests on the and getintomedicine websites and I finally got the Medify one month subscription today. I'm really looking forward to using it as I've heard really good things about the website.

Also, I got 2 more healthcare assistant interview invites from the same hospital-for next week. Aaarrggh. One of them is for the Cardiology ward and it is on the 16th of July and the other is for the Medical and Surgical unit on the 15th of July. The first invite I got for the post of a theatre support worker is at a different hospital on the 23rd of July. If I do get the hca job for the Cardiology ward, I might decide to take that one instead and decline the others but we'll see how it goes.

And finally, the World Cup has come to an end with a victorious win from Germany.
Hope you guys had a good week.

How I Set Up My First Filofax

N.B: Too many photos alert!!!

Hey everyone,

So I got my very first filofax or personal organiser a few weeks ago and I have spent an awful lot of time watching YouTube videos and reading blog posts in order to decide on how to set it up. It took me a while but I did get there in the end.

I own the personal Saffiano in aqua which looks more green than blue.

So this is the first thing you see when you open it up.I keep a few stickers behind the vertical pocket on the left and I also keep some paperclips in the small horizontal pockets. Then you have the flyleaf and the all important "dashboard". I was going for something that would make me smile every time I look at it and I couldn't be happier with the result.

Behind the dashboard is where I keep a few sticky tabs in case I need to jot down something quickly. I really do love my dashboard and I didn't want to cover it up with sticky notes so I decided to putting them at the back instead. I got this idea from a YouTuber called FiloFascination. On the right is my registration page and after than are all the information pages the filofax came with.

I decorated each of the filofax dividers with washi tape, stickers and one of my favourite scriptures. The first section is labelled  DIARY. I have the year view sheet that came with the filofax and I just cross off the months as they go by.

I have the month on two pages which I printed off the Philofaxy website. I have noted down important events like birthdays, pay day, work and stuff like that. I decided to keep the decorations simple.  After this are the week on two pages. I would be sharing pictures of my weekly diary pages soon.

Next is the LISTS section.

This is where I keep my grocery  lists ( left).  I also have a couple of sticky notes on the right- each for a different shop. So if I wanted to make a list of things to buy from WH Smith and Amazon, I would write them down on the two separate lists instead of all in one. I got this idea from a YouTuber called Alexandra Shaw.

I have a list of books to read, movies to watch, wish list, bucket list and a list of prayer requests. I also keep track of my orders and all the washi tape I have.

Next is my FINANCE section.

I keep track of my expenses here.

Next is my BLOG section. I write down post ideas, keep track of posts in progress, scheduled posts and my blog stats. I will do a separate blog post about the system I use to manage blog posts.

Next is my FITNESS section.

I am trying to get to my goal weight so I keep track of my weight, measurements, exercise and I also have a page for motivation which is currently empty and I hope to fill it up soon.

Last but not the least is my NOTES section.

I love love love quotes and so I keep a list of some of my favourite quotes, bible verses and also some devotional notes in this section. I also have a website tracker kinda page. To add some colour to the page, I decided to draw out the logos for the different websites. I got this idea from Sachiko who is the author of the Filofax love blog.

At the back, I have the top loading envelope where I keep my mini statements and some other random pieces of paper . I also like keeping the filofax notepad at the back for writing quick notes.

The purple paper clip at the top takes me to my general to do and shopping lists.

Finally, there's the back of the filo.

I absolutely am in love with the Saffiano. The material feels very soft and the colour is not too dark or too bright. It is just perfect for me. I don't see myself moving out of this planner any time soon :D
