My Week #48 (2015)

Christian Union Mission Week, Dancing All Night And Fashion Show 2015 And Guest Post.

Week 48 in my Filofax

My outfit for one of the Beyonce Medley- SGUL Fashion Show 2015/ The lovely Fashion Show 2k15 cast/ Setting up the SU Bar for the show/ Getting ready for one of my dances- I am gonna miss that leotard/ Amazing Fashion Show Artists at work/ Dance rehearsal until 3;30 in the morning. Getting ready for the Afreakan dance :D

Bible Verse Of The Week:
"Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works."
Hebrews 10:24

Monday:
Recovering from the show run throughs the night before, we had to get back to work as we all had our one of our last rehearsals. One of my rehearsals was supposed to be an hour long but ended up taking almost 2 hours,

Tuesday:
We had a cardiac simulation practical based on pharmacology. We basically spent about an hour clicking on different drugs and chemicals and seeing how it affected heart rate, blood pressure and skeletal muscle contraction. Then we had to think about why we got the responses we got in terms of receptors invloved, neurotransmitters and signals. We had a little quiz at the end which I did well in. The idea of a quiz about a subject as complicated as pharmacology scared me at first but then it was very good exam practice which made me realise that I actually did know it.

I had more dance rehearsals and we learnt the finale for the Afreakan dance which was one of my favourite dances.

Wednesday:
We didn't have any lectures but instead the very last set of fashion show run throughs started at about 3pm and we didn't leave there till about 3;30a.m in the morning.

Thursday:
I had a very late night and didn't sleep until about 4 in the morning so I missed my very first lecture but then I was able to attend the other 4 we had in the afternoon which wasn't too bad.

The first night of the show started at 7:30. The turn out was good considering the fact that it was only the first day and I really loved performing.

Friday:
Friday night was amazing. There were so many people and the SU bar was totally packed with people and the crowd was amazing. There was an after party after the show which was really good too. We all had so much fun and I wished it wasn't over.

Saturday:
I finally got the chance to recover from the long weeks of rehearsals. I did some work and then went to Gospel Choir rehearsals in the evening.

Sunday:
After church, my flatmate and I had some people from church over and we had food and watched movies so it was a really lovely time. I then had a nap after that coz I was tired. I'm ready to start the new week.
Finally, I wrote a guest post on the blog Letters To Jayna run by the lovely Elissa about my journalling experience. You can check it out if you want.

Hope you guys had a lovely week.
Thanks for reading.
God bless :)

Inside My Faith Filofax

***Warning: Too many photos alert***

Hello guys,
I've got another post I have been wanting to share for a very long time.

This is my Faith Filofax. My Aqua Saffiano is my very first Filo and I used to have it as my main planner. You can view my previous set ups here and here.
I moved in to my Compact Kyoto Rose Paperchase Planner for uni and decided to use this one as my Faith Filofax.
Of course I just had to use my letter stickers to add the word Faith at the front.

I got this really gorgeous crepe charm from a kawaii box I received a few months ago. You can see the other items I got in that box here.

At the front, I used my previous dashboard from my old set up  because I feel like it goes really well with the purpose of the Filofax.

Next I have one of my favourite poems which is the story about the footprints. It touches my heart every single time I read it and so I just had to have it in my planner.

My very first section is "GRATITUDE"

I have always wanted to have a gratitude journal. I feel that being grateful and giving thanks is very important and in order to motivate me to be more grateful to my Heavenly Father, I decided to have a gratitude section in my Filo. The aim is to try and write down one thing I am grateful for everyday. Uni has taken up most of my life and I sometimes forget to write in it but it does encourage me to be more grateful.

The next section is "BIBLE STUDY"

When I do my bible study, I do write down a few notes in this section.

The next section is "SERMON NOTES".
Every time I go to church, I do write out my sermon notes in this section.

I use this bookmark.

The next section is "INSPIRE".

In this section, I keep my favourite quotes in here.

The next section is "FAVOURITES"

I have a list of one of my favourite movies.

Christian books.

The last section is "MISCELLENEOUS"
I just keep all the random bits and bobs here.

At the back of my planner, I keep my stickers, sticky notes and some labels.

That's all I have to share for now guys,
I hope you guys enjoyed this post.
Have a lovely day.
God bless.

My Week #47 (2015)

Fashion Show Rehearsals Week 4, Going Home For The Weekend And Too Much Food.

Week 47 in my Filofax

Back home for the weekend/ Cooking fried rice at home with my mum/ Fried plantains/ Me eating fufu and eru- a very famous and much loved Cameroonian dish.

Bible Verse Of The Week:
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God"
1 John 4:7

Monday
This was the beginning of the week 4 of the fashion show rehearsals. Time has flown by and it is nearly the end and I am so happy it is finally coming to an end. It has been a stressful couple of weeks but I hope the show goes really well for all of us considering all the hard work we all have put in.

Tuesday
We had an enzyme kinetics practical where we had to collect from 2 experiments we carried out and then do a practical write up which includes drawing of graphs, interpretation of results and so on. We were given 2 weeks to complete the write up so I need to make sure I get that over and done with.

Wednesday
We had more rehearsals in the evening and we learnt the finale for the Afreakan dance I am in. It is my favourite dance and the finale is my favourite part about the dance.

Thursday
We had another meeting with our personal tutors. Our first meeting was a couple of weeks ago where they gave us our formative essay titles. My essay topic was about the discovery of dendritic cells and their importance in adaptive immunity. My tutor gave me feedback on the structure and referencing and then I showed her my portfolio. I have been working on my portfolio for a while now and I might share the set up in the near future.

Friday
I mentioned last week that I was going home and so after lectures I took the train back home. I got home at around half eight ish in the evening and it was so nice to see my family especially my brothers.

Saturday
We were hosting a church event at our house and we had loads of people from our church back in Cameroon. I helped my mum with the preparation and the cooking. For most of the day, I was looking after the children but it was a good day overall. There was loads of food too.

Sunday
Immediately after church, I took the train back to London and I got to London at about half 4. I had missed the Saturday dance rehearsals so I had to go to uni first to go through the run throughs and the dress and tech runs. It was a really hectic day and I ended getting back to halls at midnight.
I thank God for the strength He provided throughout the week.

How has your week been guys. Do let me know in the comments.
Thanks ever so much for stopping by.
God bless :)

My Week #46 (2015)

Fashion Show Rehearsals Week 3, Student Ambassador Photoshoot, Mum and Dad Coming To Visit And Practice, Practice, Practice

Week 46 in my Filo

Studying pharmacology/ At Fashion Show weekend rehearsals/ My first typed up notes :)/ I got  a Fashion Show hoodie to spread the love/ My set up in the library.

Bible Verse Of The Week:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son- that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life"
John 3:16

Monday:
This week was the start of the third week of rehearsals. The show is in 11 days and it's starting to get a bit intense.

Tuesday:
I didnt really have much going on except for my dance rehearsals. I had one during the Christian Union meeting so I only ended going after my rehearsal when the talk was over. I still got food though so it's alright :)

Wednesday:
I had one of my very first experiences of being a student ambassador.  We had a photo shoot and they are going to use the photos in the uni prospectus. It was really nice meeting some of the other student ambassadors and just talking. The photo
shoot was at one of the local pubs and the uni paid for all our food and drinks.

Also my mum and dad came down to visit me. I haven't had the chance to go home yet since I came to uni so it was really nice of them to come down. I will be going home this weekend anyway so I am really looking forward to that :)
Thursday:
It was just another busy day with loads of lectures and more dance rehearsals.

Friday:
There was a south London unis christian union weekend away which most of my friends went to for the whole weekend but I couldn't go because I had Fashion show weekend rehearsals.

Saturday:
This was the start of our very first fashion show weekend rehearsals. The day went by really quickly. My first rehearsal was at 11am but before I knew it was 4pm and it was starting to get dark again. My whole was mostly spent in the libary and then dancing.

Sunday:
After rehearsals, we had our first ever run through of all the dances and I got the opportunity to see some of the other dances. The dances are really but taking all the feedback we got into mind, we still need to put it a lot more work an practice, practice, practice. It's all for charity-for good cause :)

Well until next time, I hope you guys are having a good week so far.
Thanks for stopping by.

Unboxing And Review: A4 Zipped Pennibridge Filofax in Cobalt Blue

Hello lovely people,

Yes I know. You might have already guessed from the title. Today I am going to be reviewing yet another Filofax and yes I bought it for myself.
I would have never thought that I would ever buy a Filofax bigger than the personal size but here I am about to review an A4 size Filo. I totally skipped the A5 and went even bigger this time.
I actually will tell you guys why I bought this gorgeous Filo and the sad story that comes with it :(

I got it from a WH Smith outlet on eBay and this is how it was packaged.

This is how it looked taking it out from the plastic packaging.

It had a Filofax plastic covering over it like most Filofaxes do.

I tried to take a closer photo so you guys could see the true colour as it appears to be darker in most of the pictures. I'm not sure if the material is real leather or not but it feels nice, soft and easy to hold.

I totally love the cobalt blue colour. It was nice to see that there was actually another a4 Filo out there that was not black. I wasn't very keen on the zipped Filofaxes before but because I wanted to use this to keep the contents of my portfolio, I really wanted to try it out as I loved the idea of having everything contained inside it.

This is what it looks on the inside. For a Filofax, some of you might be thinking, "where are the rings?"
Well I thought the same thing too when I opened it up and realised it didn't come with a ring mechanism. The colour is still really beautiful on the inside and I love the fact that it is consistent all through.

On the left cover, there are two vertical zipped pockets and another without a zip.

On the other side, there is the a4 notepad it came with which I thought would be really handy for someone who is using it as folder for taking notes or so.
I wasn't very keen on the fact that the pen loop was at the centre. It looks alright now I guess because the rings are missing but I can imagine having to deal with my pen and the rings so close together.

This is what the notepad looks like. It just came with normal lined paper.

And this is the view from the back.

Overall. I think it is a very lovely Filofax and would make a great folder for keeping your notepad and taking notes or even just for storing loose paper.
Sadly, because it didn't come with the rings, I would have to return it and get another one. I might not be getting a Filofax and so I just thought I would review it here on my blog before sending it back.
Hope you guys enjoyed this post.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
God bless :)

My Week #45 (2015)

Fashion Show Rehearsal Week 2, God Speaking To Me, Filofax Disappointment, Fireworks And Worship Night

Week 45 in my Filofax

Lunch in the canteen/ We were learning about the autonomic nervous system in a perculiar way/ In the library/ I passed my TBH safeguarding exam yay!!!/ New Filofax/ In Wemberley for a worship night :)

Bible Verse Of The Week:
"Ask and ye shall receive that your joy may be full."
John 16:24b

Monday
The week started off really nicely and I had fashion show rehearsals in the evening. Its only 2 weeks now till the fashion show so I guess we've been putting in a lot of hardwork.

Tuesday
I had another accessed practical as I mentioned in last week's post and I have to say that it was much better than the one I had the week before. Everything went like it was supposed to and so I just hope and pray that the results are good.

Later that evening, we had a talk from a guest speaker at the Christian Union meeting. I really did enjoy that talk and it felt as if God was using him to speak to me in such a perculiar way. The message was about God's grace and empowerment and how we underestimate the grace of God and feel like we can't live our lives the way God wants us to even though He has given us the ability.
I most definitely will do another post about this in a few days so keep your eyes peeled if you are interested. In summary, I really enjoyed this talk and really hope that God continues to use others to bless us.

Wednesday
I can't remember if I had mentioned earlier that I sent off my DBS application form last week but I did and I finally got the certificate in the post which was exciting.

Also, I recently bought a new Filofax (review coming soon) from a WH Smith outlet on eBay and they sent it to me without the ring mechanism. I was really not happy and I have emailed them and they said they were going to investigate it. One of the reason I got it was because of the rings and so I was pretty disappointed when it didn't have any ring mechanism.

Thursday
There has been loads of fireworks this week. Unfortunately, apart from the ones I saw out of my uni room window, I din't really go to any special fireworks event because my week has just been so busy.
Did you guys go to see any fireworks, let me know in the comments :)

Friday
We had a Gospel Choir rehearsal and we are currently practising for our Cookies and Carols on the 2nd of December so Christmas songs are in the air. I am really excited for Christmas :)

Saturday
I went for a Youth Worship Night and my uni mum's church in Wemberley and I have to say that I had the most amazing night ever. What could be better than singing and praying to God for most of the evening. It was really nice to feel God's presence and to see Him at work in young people. God is awesome :)

Sunday
I was really tired when I woke up and so after church, I just decided to rest a little while before studying.

Hope you guys had a lovely week.

University: What's In My Bag?

Hello guys,
Today I have another university post and I just wanted to quickly share with you all what I carry with me to uni on a daily basis.
Every day is different and the number of things I have in my bag will depend on the modules or number of lectures I have that day.

This is my back pack and some of you might recognise it from when I did my uni haul posts way back in August. I got this back pack from Roxy.co.uk and I thought it was too big then but I actually find it really useful. It has three main pockets and I love this so I can seperate my stuff in my bag.

In the largest pocket or compartment, I keep the following;
A4 refill pad for writing down notes during lectures,
My Anatomy booklet for dissection session (I don't usually have this but this was a Monday and I normally have my sessions in the dissection room on Mondays so I needed this book. On Tuesdays, I have my practicals book instead)
A pocket for keeping any loose leaf papers or work I have.
My tablet which the uni gave to us. I have found this device really useful and I will do a ppost in the future about how I use it at uni.
My pencil case.
My glasses.

Then in the second largest compartment, I normally keep my labcoats when we need to use them. This was a Monday like I mentioned and we wear blue lab coats in the dissection room. My lab practicals lab coats is white.
I also put my water bottle in here and my packed lunch too.

Then in the smallest pocket, I have my wallet which is a mini Filofax. If you are interested in how I set up this Filofax, you can click here.
Then I also have this little folder which houses my anatomy flashcards and record cards. I bought it from Ryman and I find it really useful.
I also have a little inhaler there because because I was battling a cold recently.
I forgot to insert my planner in the very first photo so I put it here instead. Normally I keepp my planner in the main compartment. I will be sharing my university set up soon guys so keep your eyes peeled.

That's all I have got to share for now. Hope this post was a bit interesting because I like having a look into what others carry around with them.
What do you guys carry with you on a normal uni/school/college day?
Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading.
God bless :)

My Week #44 (2015)

Start Of Fashion Show Rehearsals, SGUL Charity Week Continues, Halloween Movie Night And Song Of The Month

My Week 44 in my Filofax

Me before church last Sunday/Lunch in caffe at uni/ Charity week bake sale/Me making chicken stew/Dinner at halls/ Lovely African print dresses I found/ On my way to the library to study before dance rehearsals/ Friday morning/ Alternative event for Halloween- movie night.

Bible Verse Of The Week:
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart"
Psalm 37:4

Monday:
This was the start of the fashion show rehearsal sessions. I am currently in 4 dances, Afreakan, all girls medley dance, Beyonce medley  dance and one other. With most of my rehearsals being an hour long in the evenings, I have had to spend most of the time in the library while waiting for my rehearsal time as I really don't fancy going to halls after uni and walking back to uni for the rehearsals.

Tuesday:
We had another assessed practical and then I had a dance rehearsal before rushing to the Christian meeting straight after.

Wednesday:
I was really tired after lectures and since we finished at 11am, I went back to halls to rest before my dance rehearsal in the evening. My rehearsal finished quite late but my friend was kind enough to wait for me in the library so we could walk back to halls together.

Thursday:
I had two dance rehearsals in the evening and they were quite intense but they were so much fun- more like a fun workout :)

Friday:
I finally sent off my DBS application after my documents were checked.
The CU organised an alternative Halloween event and we had a movie night with loads of food, singing and it was really fun.

Saturday:
The sign up sheet for the Teddy Bear Hospital clinics was released and I managed to steal 5 places before they were all taken.

Sunday:
After church today, I had a nap as usual, did some work and now I'm waiting to watch the X Factor results show :)

Song Of The Month- Ever Be by Kalley Heilligenthal

I first heard this song in one of the churches I visited a few weeks ago and I just love it.
It's November already and soon December will be hear and 2015 will be over. Through it all, I want His praise to ever be on my lips.

Wish you guys a lovely month of November :)
