My Inspiration: His Grace Is Enough

His Grace And Empowerment Is Enough

***Caution: Text Heavy Post***

Hey guys,
I had been wanting to share this post for a long time now but I haven't really had the time to sit down and write it. I did mention a few months ago that we had a speaker at one of our Christian Union meetings whose teaching really blessed me. I have been wanting to do a post about what I learnt for a while and here it is finally.
The teaching was about God's grace and how we underestimate it and fail to apply it in our lives. 2 Corinthians 6:1 says that many of us have received God's grace in vain and we do not use it because we do not understand it fully.

Grace refers to God's unmerited favour which He has given us as a free gift and not because we have done anything to deserve it (Ephesians 2:8-9). The speaker used his testimony as an example of how God's grace works. He used to have an addiction before which he really struggled with especially since it was against his faith and belief. He had constant battles with himself as he really wanted to stop but felt like a slave to it and that it was impossible just like Apostle Paul stated in Romans 7:14-20. He said that when Philippians 4:13 tells us that we can do anything through Christ who strengthens us, it really means that all things are possible. This is where God's grace comes in.

Grace is more than just unmerited favour. It comes with empowerment as well. It empowers us to live a life just as God wants us to (1 Corinthians 15:10). On the cross, there was a swap and Christ became sin itself and took upon Himself all our punishments thereby making us right with God. It is a very common thing for us to say that "no one is perfect" and that "we all sin everyday as it is our nature". While it is true that no one is perfect and we all sin, it is also true that God wants us to strive for holiness just as He himself is holy. Thinking about how holy and glorious God is, we might say "How can He really expect us to be as Holy as Him?". We might think it is a bit of an unfair thing for Him to ask us to be holy when He knows the kind of world we live in where we are all faced with so many temptations every minute of each day. Hebrews 13:9 tells us that our strength comes from God's grace and that if He has put us in a situation, then He will surely give us the strength to go through it.

In Philippians 3:8-11, Apostle Paul was talking about how he would like to experience the resurrection of Christ (in other words, experience what Christ went through when he resurrected) but while he is still in his earthly body. Would we say that Apostle Paul was aiming too high? Absolutely not. God wants us to understand that it is very possible to do or be whatever we want to be if we use the grace and empowerment that He has freely given to us.
Some of us might be going through really tough times or have our individual battles that we are fighting or some of us might have believed the lies and condemnations from the devil- who is always trying to make us believe that we are worth nothing and that it is impossible to be made right with God because we are sinners and God will never forgive us.

God is reminding us that He will empower us to do His will and not the will of someone else (James 1:3-4). When our endurance is complete, we will be perfect and needing nothing. He knows the path that we take and so when He has finished testing us, we will come out as PURE GOLD.
If we're struggling with sin and temptations, Philippians 4:8 tells us that  we should not be sin conscious but righteousness conscious. Let us focus our minds on things that are good and pleasing to the Lord. Remember that Christ has saved us into a whole new world of possibilities but
everything we watch or say or hear might be trying to make us believe otherwise. God is faithful and gracious and merciful and full of unfailing love. He has given us the grace and the empowerment to face our fears so that His good and perfect will for us will be fulfilled.
We need to believe that and trust Him because He knows best.
