My Week #12 In Review (2017)

Spring Is Here, Camp NanoWriMo Prep, Treasurer Of The CU, Sending Off SRF Aplication, Organising Volunteering Shifts, Westminster Attack, My Brother's 18th Birthday, Mother's Day

Food my mum made for my brother's birthday/ My first time in a Thai Restaurant/ A trip to Kaspas/ I absolutely love Kaspas

Quote of the Week:
"Those who follow the crowd usually get lost in it. Why blend in when you were born to stand out?"

Spring is finally here and you can tell from the sunny spells we have been having lately. We have survived another Winter. Praise be to God. I really cannot wait for the Summer as I am already  getting sick of the cold now. This past week was quite a busy one for me.

I finally sent off the second application for my summer studentship research programme. My supervisor has been really helpful throughout the whole process and God willing, we will be able to get funding for the project. We will hear back within 6 weeks about the outcome of the application so I will update you guys when I hear back from the organisation we applied to.

This week, I also was officially voted in to be the treasurer of the Christian Union for next academic year. I was approached a few weeks ago and asked if I wanted to be take on the role and I took some time out to pray about it. I realised that it would be an absolute honour to be part of such amazing service to God so I gladly accepted it. I am looking forward to the next year and excited for the challenges and the adventures. But most of all, I am excited to see what God is going to do through our CU and how is He is going to glorify Himself through us.

Some of you may know that I am the Secretary of the Paediatric Soceity for this academic year. I was given the job of organising volunteering shifts for students at the university hospital and it has been a whole new challenge on its own. I have had to deal with checking DBS certificates, sending and receiving a lot of emails and it has also made me realise how limited my knowledge of software is. I love the challege though and it has only taught me that I can do anything as long as I set my mind to it.

Some of you may have heard of the Westminster attack that took place last Wednesday. My university is about 30mins away from Westminster by tube so it was quite close to us. I have been on that bridge so many times and just listening to the stories of the victims makes my heart sad as it could have been anyone. My heart goes out to those who have been affected and their families. May God continue to comfort them at this time of trial. And may the souls of those who passed away rest in perfect peace.

My brother turned 18 on Thursday and I went home to celebrate with my family. I remember when I turned 18 as it was around the same time I started this blog. It's so amazing how time flies and how we grow and change to become much better people. I thank God for the journey and I hope and pray that it will only get better and better from here. I was also able to celebrate Mother's day with my family on the Sunday before coming back to uni in the evening. It was nice to spend a few days at home with my family.

My Writing Series #3

My Week #11 In Review (2017)

Mental Health Awareness Week, Text-A-Taostie, CU Lunch Bar, Urine Sugars Practical And Teaching Children At Church Again

One of the verses that really encouraged me this week/ Text a toastie/ Free hot chocolate and a biscuit/ My splits progress/ Making chicken for the CU lunch bar/ Stress ball that changes colour/ Practical on urine sugars/ Practising my drawing skills/ More drawings during study time

Bible Verse Of The Week:
"The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"
-Psalm 34:18

This week at university was Mental Health awareness week and there were a lot of events going on. The university was offering free gym sessions for the whole week and also there was a text-a-tea event going on. We were able to order a free hot drink and a biscuit and it would be delivered to us anywhere around the university. I was able to use this opportunity to get back to exercising as I made use of the free gym sessions.I was so consistent that I lost 3 pounds which was really nice. Hopefully I can be able to continue and not give up. I also was more consistent with my stretching regime to help me do my splits. I am still quite far away from the ground but I believe I will get there eventually.

We also had a text-a-toastie event which was organised by the Christian Union and also a lunch bar where we had a speaker come speak to us about religious faith and medicine. These were all really good opportunities to speak to non-christians at my university about Christ.

We also had a practical this week where we were measuring blood sugars in urine and using the results from the thin-layer chromatogram to diagnose the metabolic disorder of the patients. I thought it was very fun even though we had to wait around for a long time.

I also was able to teach the chidren in the sunday school at church again on Sunday and they were very willing to participate and answer questions. I was glad to see that they were very open talking to me about the issues they faced about honouring parents. I love teaching the kids and I am looking forward to teaching them more in the future.

My Week #10 In Review (2017)

Sending Off First Application For Summer Studentship, Working On Special Study Project 2 And Tooting Show 2017

I finally made an omelette for myself after a long time/ Chilli con carne in the making/ My special breakfast treat after Tooting Show/ McFlurry ice cream after Tooting Show day 1/ Peanut butter and chocolate waffle at Kaspas/ Chocolate waffle at Kaspas

"Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD"
Psalm 31:24

This week was a very busy one for me as it was the week of Tooting Show 2017. We had to stay till the early hours of the morning on Monday night trying to rehearse and practise the dances, acting and singing. The show had to be put together by the Monday night because a lot of the cast were going to see The Weekend in concert for the 2 days before the show. I didn't feel the excitement of the show as we didn't have rehearsals the day before but when it came to the day and I saw all the people who were waiting to see it, I  became excited for it. The Thursday crowd was really good and of course the Friday was even more amazing. I have had so much fun choreographing the African dance for this year's show and it is so sad that it is all over now.  Hopefully I will be able to choreo for Fashion Show in November but until then, I am just happy that I have gotten all my free time back and I can now focus on my uni work.

As some of you may know, I want to do a summer vacation studentship this summer at one of the research labs at my uni and so since we were not able to secure funding via my university, my supervisor and I are going to apply for funding from external sources. We sent off one application a few days ago and we are working on the second application.

We also have been working on our special study projects for this term. This time around, we are working in groups and don't have to write an essay but we need to produce a poster and then do a presentation in May. We have gathered a lot of information but then so far, we are having a bit of difficulty fitting it all into the poster so we are going to have to cut down a lot of information. I love my group and each and every one of us participate so I am excited to see what we come up with in the end.

How has your week been?

My Weeks #8 And #9 In Review (2017)

Weekend Rehearsals, God Speaking To Me, Discouraging Dreams, Semester 3 Results, And Tooting Show Coming Soon

My flatmates made creme brulee for me and it was the first time I tried it. It was really good/ Cooking after midnight/ Food after a church event/ Blood grouping practical/ Celebrating my friend's birthday/ Tooting Show stage prep

"There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still"
-Corrie Ten Boom
The last 2 weeks have been very busy as I have had a lot of rehearsals for the show we are doing at my uni for charity. The show is only in a few days and we have been working really hard to make sure it turns out to be the best it can possibly be. This means that we have been having a lot of hours of rehearsals and it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. God has been faithful through every step of the way though and He has kept me in good health- both physically and mentally.

A few weeks ago I attended an event at church and the message from the speaker was very encouraging as it challenged me to focus more on God during my quiet times with Him. The speaker talked about distractions when we study God's word and even when we pray and how to deal with these things. At the end, there was a prayer session and during the session God gave a word to me. He spoke about the situation I was currently going through and how He wanted me to deal with it. He even revealed to me a bit about His plans regarding me and my family. I was so blessed after that message and went home really encouraged.

That same night after that church event, I had a dream and it was a very discouraging one. It was one I knew was certainly not from God because it totally was against His will and against the Word He had given to me the night before. It was very disheartening but I prayed about it and asked my friend to pray with me. I have since seen that God is faithful and He is making His word come to pass.
We always have to remember that God is not a God of confusion. His yes is yes and His no is no. He is not man and He certainly does not lie.

Another amazing thing God did for me was my exam results. Some of you may remember that I wrote my exams at the end of January. I had no idea how well I was going to do and I had so many doubts and fears even though God had been teaching me a lot about not worrying. I am very happy to say that He came through for me and I did so much better than I had expected. God is so faithful and true and He knows all our needs.

"God is not a God of confusion. His yes is yes and His no is no. He is not man that He should lie. He always comes through for us. Those who hope in Him will never be ashamed"

I did a short Bible study on my YouTube channel about 7 reasons why we should not worry so you can check it out below.

What has God been teaching you recently?

University: Second Year Room Tour

Hello lovely people,

Today I will finally be sharing with you a tour of my university room in London. Some of you may know that I am a second year Biomedical Science student at St George's University in London and this year I am living in a student house with other students as opposed to last year where I was living in the university's halls of residence. You can check out my room from last year here.
I thought it would be easier to make a video showing you around the room so below is the video of my room tour.

Thanks ever so much for reading.
Have a lovely day.
