My Week #17 In Review (2017)

Watching More Christian Movies, The End Of Camp NanoWrimo And Back To Uni Tomorrow
Watching a movie called "Have A Little Faith"/ My new Bible cover finally came and I love it/ My dad made pepper soup for us and it was really good/ I won Camp NanoWrimo

My Inspiration For The Week

"He's been God a long time. He knows what He's doing."

This week, I had one of those moments again where I was feeling a bit discouraged because of certain things that were going on around me. I let it weigh me down a little bit and I found that I couldn't concentrate when I tried to study. So I took a journalling break and listened to some worship music and soon I was encouraged by the lyrics to the song King Of My Heart. I find it very comforting that we can always rely on God as our ever present help in time of need so that made me grateful for God's presence which never leaves us and which reminds us that we are never alone.

I love watching Christian movies because they encourage me and they make me think about certain things or look at them in ways that I probably would not have looked at them before. So this week I watched a movie called "Have A Little Faith". It was recommended to me by YouTube and I thought it sounded like a good movie so I decided to watch it. The movie is based on a true story and it is about a writer who was asked by his childhood Rabbi to write a eulogy for him. Over the course of 8 years, this writer got to know this Rabbi and he unknowingly went on a journey to rediscover his own faith. Soon enough he began to ask himself questions and in his quest to do good and make a difference, he was led to Jesus. He soon learned a lot about how grace works and what our purpose is on earth.  The one question that kept coming up throughout the movie and which I ended up asking myself at the end was "What is my glory?" I am going to doing another post talking about this question soon but for now, I would recommend the movie "Have A Little Faith".

My Easter break has finally come to an end and I will be going back to uni in London tomorrow. I start lectures again on Tuesday and I can't believe a month has gone by just like that. I am grateful for this month of April though and I think it has been quite a productive one. One of the reasons is because I took part in a virtual writing retreat which has now come to an end.

Medic Mind UKCAT Course

Hello everyone,

If you have been following my blog for a while, you might know that I have applied for medicine in the past and I am still thinking about applying in the future. One of the things I have learnt is that the medicine application process can be very daunting especially if you go into it without much help. I remember not getting very much help the very first time I applied and that had a lot of impact on my application. I have been looking out for good resources that can help me better prepare for the whole application process and I recently came across the Medic Mind website. Medic Mind is an organisation that offers services which can be very useful to anyone looking to apply for medicine in the future and so I thought I would tell you guys all about their UKCAT course and the other resources on their website.

UKCAT Course

Medic Mind offers UKCAT courses in different locations all over the UK and they have expert teachers that give advice and cover all aspects of the UKCAT. I know a lot of other UKCAT courses that cost about £300 and these are not affordable for many students. Medic Mind offers their courses at only £35 for the full day which I think is so much more affordable than the others. They also provide useful  materials including practice questions and other interactive sources that can be very useful to applicants. They are also going to be sharing some BMAT study resources on the website including practice questions, study guides and useful tips.

Free talks and workshops

Medic Mind also offers free talks around UK schools to provide students with information about UCAS, personal statements, admissions tests and interviews. They are also looking to set up workshops in London where applicants can talk to current medical students and get advice from them.

Free resources

The website contains A Level resources which include free past paper questions that have been organised by topic and you can access those here. They also have free revision notes for GCSE, AS and A2 and they are also going to be sharing some resources that will help prepare applicants for medicine interviews.

The mission of Medic Mind is to provide assistance to students who are struggling with their application and as they are not profit motivated, they provide services that are so much more affordable for students. Medic Mind also raises funds for charities and so by paying for the UKCAT courses, you help raise funds for these charities as well.

I think these resources and services offered by Medic Mind could be very useful to any potential medicine applicants or anyone interested in a career in health care so if you would want to find out more about all of these resources and services, you can visit their website. I think I certainly would want to make use of some of these resources too.

My Week #16 In Review (2017)

In Search Of A New Filofax Wallet, Seeing A Baby Being Delivered, Preparing For My Driving Test And Camp NanoWrimo Week 3

I love the pocket malden Filofax in turquoise blue but it is so expensive/ My new drawing of the Lion and the Lamb/ Making more mind maps/ Lovely sunset

Quote Of The Week
"Once you realise how valuable you are, you will find it hard to keep the company of those who do not"

This week, I was in search of a new pocket Filofax to use as my wallet. My mini Filofax which I shared my set up with you guys here is now getting really old as I have been using her for over 2 years now. I am hoping to get a planner made with real leather but a lot of them are really expensive and I don't have the money for it yet.

I restarted my driving lessons on Thursday and since my practical test is next month, we have been going through a lot of little things that I am doing wrong that we need to work on so I don't make many faults during my test. I can say that I am now way more confident behind the steering than I was when I just started learning over the summer so thank God for that.

I had a shadowing shift yesterday on the neonatal intensive care unit and they let me into theatre to see a baby being delivered. I have to say that the miracle of life is disgustingly amazing. One of the reasons I went back to NICU was because I was hoping I could get the chance to watch a delivery as I missed it the last time I was there and thank God I was able to see one. I really do love children and babies and as I study more about reproduction and neonatology, I am getting more interested in the paediatrics side of things.

University: How I Make Mind Maps

Hello everyone,

Today, I am bringing you another study with me vlog and in this one, I am showing you how I use mind maps to summarise information from my lecture notes. If you would like to see how I make my notes after lectures, then you can watch my other video which I included in another post here. I find mind maps really useful and they are so much fun to make so I hope this will serve as some sort of inspiration or motivation for anyone out there wanting to use mind maps as an effective study tool.

Camp NanoWrimo Week 2, Dad's Birthday, Learning To Draw, Good Friday And Easter Celebrations

Delicious meal my mum made for me/ My Jesus drawing for good Friday/ Good Friday quote from Our Daily Bread Devotional/ Making mind maps and studying

Quote of the week:
"The best gift you can give yourself is time alone with God"

This week, I was working on a drawing project of Jesus, it was a picture I saw online and I thought it was really beautiful as the picture told the whole story of Jesus. I really loved the end results. If you would like to see more of the drawing progress then you can watch my camp nanowrimo vlog below.

We celebrated my Dad,s birthday on Tuesday. We bought him a cake, prayed for him, had a little meal at home and it was a nice time to spend with the whole family.

Happy Belated Easter to all of you. Hope you had a lovely time. I always love the Easter time of year because it reminds me of the hope and strength we have in Christ. Every single time, I never get tired of being excited about the fact that Jesus is alive and because He is, we can have life in abundance.

My Week #13 In Review (2017)

Handing In Practical Write Up, End Of Term, My First Blood Donation, Start Of Camp NanoWrimo, Going Home For Easter

Filling in a questionnaire before blood donation/ They finally put the needle in after all the checks/ The end of the blood donation/ They gave me free snacks,/ Packing to go home/ A sneak peak into one of my poems on instagram

Quote Of The Week
"It's time to start listening to the only voice that matters. The voice that says "You're loved""

This week, I handed in one of my last practical write ups of this semester. We will have one more write up after Easter but this only means that we are nearing the end of second year.

I donated blood for the very first time this week. I was a bit scared at the beginning as I hadn't had a good night's sleep but I made sure to have a really good breakfast. The nurses were really nice and the whole process went on quite smoothly. I think it is nice when you have the feeling that you might be able to save someone's life.

It is the end of term now and I am back home for the Easter break. The term was quite a busy one so I am glad that we get this month off to rest a little bit at home.

This week marked the start of Camp NanoWrimo on the 1st of April and this is a virtual writing retreat that is taking place throughout the whole month. I am going to be attempting to write 10.000 words this month as part of my poetry devotional and I will update you all as I go along.

I learnt a very important lesson this week about how to deal with rejection and negative thoughts. I shared a video on my channel talking all about this topic so you can check it out if you want.

Spring is finally here. The weather has been really lovely over these past few days and the flowers have started to bloom. I really do feel like we are going to be having a really good summer this year. Hopefully that will be the case.
