My Weeks #24 And #25 In Review (2017)

All My Exams Done, End Of Second Year And Back Home For A Week

Sweets as a fuel for revision :)/ A day out in South Wimbledon/ Mcflurry's ice cream celebration./ I fell in love with roasted peanuts which got me through revision sessions./ Studying for my anatomy exam./ Post exam home cooked meal- chicken casserole.

My Quote Of The Week

"Sometimes God has to strip you off everything you can rely on so you will have no other choice but to trust Him"

It's been two weeks since my last post and I am very happy to say that I am now officially done with my second year of university. My first exam was the synoptic essay paper as I explained in the last post and the second exam was based on material we learnt in the last semester. My last exam was an anatomy exam and it was synoptic as well. I am very grateful that I won't be expected to learn anatomy anymore. At least I hope. The anatomy exam was quite tough in my opinion but it is all in the past now.

I am back home for a week and then I will be going back to London to start my summer vacation studentship. This summer is going to be very busy for me but I am really excited to see what it is going to bring.

I hope you all had an amazing week.
Thank you for reading.
Have a lovely day.
God bless

My Week #23 In Review (2017)

I Voted For The First Time, Booked Some Shifts At Work And My First Exam In 5 Days

Immunology revision/ I voted for the first time/ Reproduction revision/ Revision sessions
My Favourite Quote Of The Week

"The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays"

This week wasn't very eventful. It was filled with endless revision sessions and essay planning. I am preparing for my first exam in a few days. It is going to be an essay synoptic exam so I am expected to know everything we have learnt this year. So far I would say that revision is going well. I've got a few days left to tighten loose ends so I am just trusting and hoping that this one goes well as it is worth so much more than the other two exams I've got.

I called up the hospital and booked a few HCA shifts for the end of June when I finish my exams. My Easter break was very busy and I didn't get the chance to do any shifts at all. I am on the bank rota and so if I don't do any shifts for a period of 6 months, they will take my name off the rota. I'm really blessed to have this job so I'd like to keep it. I'm looking forward to seeing my colleagues again :)

The UK general elections took place on Thursday and I voted for the first time. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I used to be one of those who couldn't be bothered about anything to do with politics. However, I realised that the government, our leaders and those in higher power have such a massive influence in our lives. They can make decisions that could have a huge impact on us and so if I do have the right to vote, then I might as well vote. I believe that God is in control and so we can only wait and see what the future holds for us.

I did another university vlog on the day of the election and if you would like to watch that, you can see the video below.

Hope you all had an amazing week.

My Week #22 In Review (2017)

Christian Union Year In Review Meeting, End Of Lectures  And Searching For New Accommodation

Home cooked meal/ Learning about some types of cancers/ Revision session with my friends/ Journal entry

My quote of the week:
"Sometimes things fall apart so that better things can fall together"

We had a whole week filled with lectures about cancer this week. It was our last week of lectures so that means I have 2 weeks left until exams begin. This means I have to catch up on all my notes and start my revision and essay planning as my first exam is a synoptic essay exam.

The members of the Christian Union committee organised a little event this week where we invited all the church leaders form the local churches in the area. We shared with them all the work we have been doing in the Christian Union for the past year and what we plan to do next year. It was a good opportunity to look back on our year and just talk about all the amazing things God did through the CU at the university. We talked about all our events like the grub crawl, text-a-toastie, missions week, lunch bars and so much more. It was also a brilliant opportunity to encourage the churches to get involved with the CU so we could form amazing relationships with them.

I am currently searching for new accommodation for next year. Some of you may remember my struggle to find a room last year as I had a whole post about it. It was a very stressful period for me and I had to stay back after my exams just to find a room. This time around, I want to move because even though my current room is really good, it is quite expensive and living in London as a student is not cheap at all. I would very much like to save as much money as I can so I will update you guys on my search soon.

How has your week been?

Have a lovely day

My Week #21 In Review (2017)

My 21st Birthday, Really Nice Weather, Text-a-toastie, Birthday Dinner, Microbiology Practical, Talent Showcase And Going Home For The Weekend

It was my 21st birthday on the Monday/ Lectures about viruses/ I got a birthday gift which was a mini African map charm for my key chain :)/ It was a really sunny week/ My own special toastie at our text-a-toastie event/ Making more mind maps

Celebrating a birthday party/ Went out with my friends to an African restaurant (805) to celebrate my birthday. The food was really good/ We were growing bacteria in the lab for our microbiology practical/ I went home for the weekend and my mum had completely redecorated my room. I absolutely loved it/ I went out for a meal with my parents and my siblings. The food was really good at Turtle Bay :)

My Reminder For The Week
"God has a plan for you. It is good and it is perfect. Always remember God's plan"

So this week I turned 21 and I had a really lovely day because the weather was really nice. It is almost exam season now at uni and because everyone was busy, we couldn't do anything on the day of my birthday so we had to celebrate on the Wednesday by going to an African restaurant in Peckam called 805. The food was really amazing and I had a lovely time with my friends. Moments like this remind me about how blessed I am in terms of the friends I've got and also my family :)

We also had a text-a-toastie event on my birthday at the university's halls of accommodation where we encouraged the first years to send in questions about God, Jesus and the Bible and then we would take a toastie to them and answer their questions. It was very nice to be part of the amazing team putting this together as events like this always encourage me.

We also had our last practical of the year this week. It was a microbiology one so we grew a lot of bacteria. We had to grow bacteria from our hands and from our phones and we also grew bacteria from a urine sample and a faecal sample. We did some tests to check for antibiotic resistance and we also did some gram staining so we could try and identify the bacteria under the microscope. We covered a lot of stuff which was fun. I find microbiology quite interesting but I don't think it is something I would want to do every day as my job. At least now I know the amount of bacteria I carry around with me everyday.

We also had the university's talent Showcase this week. I entered as part of an African dance group and I also sang with the Gospel Choir. The Gospel Choir won the Showcase including the £300 cash prize so I thought that was really amazing :)

Finally, I went home for the weekend to spend it with my family. We went out for dinner on Saturday evening and we had an amazing time at church the next day. I had to leave early to come back to London for uni  but the whole week was an amazing one and I am grateful to God for that.
