July And August In Review (2017)

Hello everyone,

So I am finally back after a very long break. The past two months have been extremely busy for me so I thought I would come back and give a little update on what has been going on as I have really missed blogging.

Exam Results

In my last post, I did mention that our pass/fail results had been released and that I had passed my end of year exams. The university finally sent us a breakdown of our results at the end of July and by the special grace of God, I finished my second year with a first. It was not an easy year for me and so it is a very  rewarding when all the hard work pays off. I thank God.

My Summer Vacation Studentship

If you read my last post, you might have also seen that I had started my 8 week summer vacation studentship. I worked in the research lab for 8 weeks carrying out experiments, analysing data from these experiments and also trying to make sense of the data. My project was based on preeclampsia and since I am interested in the area of reproduction, I found this a very exciting project to work on. My supervisor was very nice and patient with me through it all. I absolutely loved working with the team that was made up of 2 Masters students and also 2 research technicians. Everyone was super helpful and that really helped me learn quickly.

I was able to learn new laboratory techniques like tissue culture, ELISAs, Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry and Bradford Protein Assays. My colleagues were very approachable and I could easily talk to them if I had any questions or doubts. I am going to leave a few photos from some of the experiments and techniques I did and I may hopefully do a video explaining my experience in more detail.

Visiting An Art Gallery For The First Time:

Another exciting thing I did during this time was visiting the Tate Modern Art Gallery in London with a friend of mine. Since I have not been able to make the most out of my stay here in London so far, I thought it was a brilliant opportunity for me to explore a little bit more. We came across a few interesting pieces and there were also quite a few I did not understand but I knew that was going to be the case. It was still a really fun thing to do and hopefully, I'll be able to do more exploring in London. Below are a few of my favourite pieces from the gallery.

Food, Food, Food:

If you've read my weekly updates, you might have noticed that I am a bit of a foodie. I love taking photos of food and sharing them on here with you guys and since I have been away for such a long time, I have plenty of foodie pics to share. To celebrate my friend's 20th birthday, we went out for a meal in a buffet restaurant and the food was really good. Here are some foodie pics.

Book Writing Update

I also finished the first draft of one of my books- Outpourings of A Beloved Heart. I t is a poetry devotional and I am now in the editing process which is really complex. You can check out my most recent writing update video here.

New YouTube Videos

I have also been very active on YouTube as I have suddenly had a lot of ideas. I feel like more and more videos will be coming as I get the chance to film them. At the moment, I am a bit limited as I have to deal with storage space on my phone but I have also been using my tablet to record (not very good video quality but it is better than nothing). If you would like to catch up on the videos, you can click here.

So that is all I have for now guys. I really hope to be able to get back into my normal blogging routine. Through out my 3 years of blogging I have never had such a long break so it did feel like I lost a part of me. I am excited to continue sharing this journey with you guys and to see where God is going to lead me.
Hope you are all well.
Thank you so much for reading.
Have a lovely day.
God bless :)
